More Details on Platinum’s Korra Game

After being officially revealed yesterday, more details surfaced on the PlayStation Blog about the  The Legend of Korra game being made by Platinum Games.

In terms of plot, the game will follow the titular character as she loses her bending abilities because of a shadowy figure. (If you do not know anything about The Legend of Korra or The Last Airbender, the show that precedes it, I suggest that you drop everything and watch it. Now. Stop reading here and watch it all.) Korra will have to start with waterbending and go through the cycle (water, earth, fire and air).

The look of the game stays true to the show, with a mixture of computer-generated, cel-shaded graphics and painted backdrops. Even in it’s current unfinished state the game ran smoothly as Korra uses anything from long-range water whips to slower and more deliberate earthbending techniques against chi-blockers. (Again, watch the series.)

The gameplay uses the Square and Circle buttons for the PlayStation version (B and Y for the Xbox fans) to pull off certain combos and charge attacks. Like Platinum Games’ previous game, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, this title will have a slight focus on blocking at the right time as Korra can reverse attacks with a well-timed block.

Now the game would not be complete without RPG elements that will allow Korra to get more advanced bending techniques and finishing moves.

In order to complete the experience, the voice actors and even martial artists will be used in order to bring more authenticity to the game.

The Legend of Korra video game will be released this fall for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.

My Opinion:

I am excited for this game. Yes, the series (well, the series before it) has been ruined once due to other media, but I have faith in Platinum Games. They took on Metal Gear and did the series as much justice as it could. If the game looks as good as Ryan Clements says it does, then I am so ready for this game. Oh, yeah, and PROBENDING IS BACK BITCHES. If this game has multiplayer, then the game is a must-buy from me right now. Also, if you haven’t already, I suggest you watch The Legend of Korra (which will be releasing its third book starting this week) and its parent series The Last Airbender. It is a magnificent series for both children and adults alike and is one of the best shows I have ever seen.
