Disney Infinity (DI) has proven to be a platform with true staying power, allowing gamers of all ages to dive head-first into beloved properties like Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars in addition to classic Disney characters. Now Disney Interactive Studios’ looks to tickle your nostalgia bone in new ways, inviting players to help recreate Walt Disney World with DI’s Toy Box mode.
Via the official DI youtube channel, Disney Interactive Studios announced the beginning of the Walt Disney World Project where players can help make a digital recreation of the famed amusement park. Interested players can choose to build their favorite rides and attractions inside of Disney Infinity 3.0’s robust Toy Box mode, where gamers are given development tools to create new worlds and experiences from scratch. Once completed, you can upload your levels directly to Disney’s servers for approval before it is made available to other players at no cost.
This project will come in four phases, with the first hoping to see the park’s Hollywood Studios attractions completed. This includes the likes of the Tower of Terror, Toy Story Midway Mania and the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. This phase is set to end on February 3rd, with phase two likely beginning soon after.
This seems like a fun way for people to show their love of Disney, even beyond the weekly build challenges posted since Disney Infinity 3.0 launched. I’ve never had much luck with the Toy Box creation tools, often running into problems which stopped my progress dead. For those more talented than I, this will surely be an excellent challenge — and I can’t wait to play the end results!
