Advertising Standards has launched an investigation into No Man’s Sky

The Advertising Standards Authority has confirmed that it has launched an investigation against Hello GamesNo Man’s Sky.

The investigation was said to be launched after receiving multiple complaints about the game’s advertising, a representative has told Eurogamer.

Because the investigation is on-going the ASA declined to provide any further comments. However, details of the investigation have since been revealed via Reddit.

Apparently, the investigation revolves around No Man’s Sky’s Steam store page, and the assets it includes that some believe misrepresent the space exploration game.

More specifically the description for the game found on various online storefront, as well as specific screenshots posted in the same place.

The ASA has said it has contacted Hello Games with a list of questions that the developer will have to reply to. If it turns out the complaints have any merit, then all advertising for the game (like the PSN Store Page, and YouTube Trailers) will be affected.

Hello Games nor Sony have provided any comments about the situation.

My Opinion:

DUN DUN DUN!

    1. Yeah I agree, it mostly comes down to gamer’s not doing their due diligence and researching a game beyond a few trailers/E3 stage demos. Now, don’t get me wrong, I think they absolutely fumbled the PR for the game and over-promised. But games have done that so many times in the past, alas, this one just seems to have really gotten to people for some reason.
