Respawn has confirmed today the the max number of players that can be in a multiplayer match of Titanfall is twelve. Which equals to matches of six on six, with AI mixed in.
Vince Zampella responded to a fan on Twitter about the player count where he replied with: “6v6 is the max player count. Turned out to be the best balance for us.”
While this sounds extremely low, you should keep in mind that every player in the game is allowed their own Titan mech. This, along with the AI spread throughout the map should make the game world feel more lively. Though we do not at this time know how many AI are going to be on the map at once.
Many fans have expressed anger at Respawn, given the recent Battlefield 4 supports far more players and runs at a higher native resolution. Though Zampella has tried to calm fans by claiming that Respawn tried many different set ups for the game, and that six on six turned out to be the best balance for the game. Even after this, loads of fans are still expressing their dissatisfaction with the recent news.
Titanfall will be available on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on March 11th, 2014.
My Opinion
I don’t intend to get this game, as I don’t have a Xbox 360/Xbox One, and my PC is ancient. But I must say this is completely unacceptable. This is next gen, it shouldn’t be more of the same thing that we have been seeing for years on Call of Duty and many other games. And I hope Respawn suffers for it by taking a massive hit in sales. If that happens, maybe it will be fixed in the sequel.
