Wii U 4.0.3 U Update Now Live

Just in time for Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, Nintendo has released the newest firmware patch for the Wii U.

Yesterday,  Nintendo fans were greeted with a notice to install the newest firmware update. The update on the surface seems relatively bland, with the intended focus to improve “overall system stability”.

However, it also added a few extra features worth noting:

  • Updates to the Wii U Menu for easier access to the Friends List
  • The ability to output audio and video to the Wii U GamePad controller in Wii Mode
  • Support for USB keyboards
  • Improvements to the Internet Browser (such as support for PDFs and for screenshot uploads to websites)

My Opinion

Call me part of the minority, but I love getting System Updates–especially ones that only take 5 minutes to download. The download was short, painless, and they managed to time it with my monthly Wii U boot-up.
