Bandai Namco has revealed another Tales of Zestiria character, and her name is Laila.
Famitsu Magazine revealed that Laila is part of a fire-element “Heavenly Tribe” that guards a legendary sword. According to the tribe, anyone who pulls out the sword will become a “Monk” and have to sign a contract with a member of the tribe.
Apparently, the protagonist Slay ends up in a situation where he gains the power to suppress the evil spirits in the world, which then leads to him forming some sort of marriage contract with Laila.
Bandai Namco describes Laila as being a mature woman who is like an instructor to Slay, but often lets strange thoughts get the best of her.
The battle system in Tales of Zestiria will be a lot like that of Tales of Graces; meaning that there will be both close and long range specialists with two attack patterns each.
Human characters are the close-ranged experts and have two main attacks. One will be swift attack abilities with their weapon, while the other is a powerful Arte that can break through an enemy’s defenses.
Heavenly Tribe members are mid-long range specialists. They have mid ranged “aimed” attacks, and then powerful Heaven Echo Artes that can be used from across the battlefield.

Tales of Zestiria is currently in development for the PlayStation 3 and is set for a worldwide release in 2015.
My Opinion:
Laila absolutely fits the build for a Tales character. “Mature” but “often lets strange thoughts get the best of her”. She sounds like she is going to get into some awkward situations, and I can’t wait to see them! I really like that the battle system is similar to Tales of Graces, because that is my favorite Tales game. The link system was cool in Tales of Xillia, but honestly the battle system could do without it. 2015 can’t come soon enough!
