Five Franchises That Should Come to Vita

The PS Vita is a powerful handheld device, so it’s easy to imagine what some of your favorite game series would be like if you could take them with you where ever you went. These are the franchises I think would be a great fit for Vita.

TLOUVITA

5. The Last of Us

The Last of Us was a huge success last year; it’s no surprise that it’s also hitting the PS4 in June. In recent news, it’s also been confirmed that they’re shooting a TLOU live action film. It seems like a no brainer to bring a franchise that’s sweeping the nation to Sony’s struggling handheld. The short but sweet “Left Behind” DLC gave us a look at what kind of content Naughty Dog could pack into a game on a much smaller scale than the main campaign of TLOU. Playing through more short stories in the riveting world of TLOU is something I know many players would enjoy.

4. Resident Evil

Technically, you can already play classic Resident Evil games on your Vita, as they are available as PS1 Classics on the PS Store. Resident Evil has a dedicated fan base, a handful of them would surely purchase a Vita to get their hands on a new adventure set in the RE universe. Having the game in 3rd person could make great use of the Vita’s dual analogs. Or maybe for a smaller, more bite-size experience, have the game be retro RE, with the franchises “iconic” fixed camera angles. Also, Capcom, if you’re feeling lazy, why not port over Resident Evil 4 or RE: Revelations, slap some trophies on them, and sit back and watch your wallets grow!? (P.S. Whatever happened to Resident Evil PSP!?)

3. inFAMOUS

inFAMOUS is a franchise I expected to see on Vita back when it launched. It’s become quite the flagship title for Sony in recent months. Seeing how the Sly Cooper Trilogy just “snuck” its way onto the Vita, maybe that will give developer Sucker Punch the incentive to bring inFAMOUS 1 & 2 to the handheld. Although, seeing a new Conduit’s story would be very interesting. Let’s hope to see something inFAMOUS Vita related at E3 this year!

2. BioShock

At one point, BioShock Vita was (presumably) in pre-development. Sadly the game never came to be. Many suggest it was never even started at all. That still doesn’t knock the idea that BioShock would be a great fit for Vita. It seems a bit surreal to imagine having such a majestic world like Columbia rest in the palm of your hands. Although, with Ken Levine and his team recently coming to a (bizarre) end, Its a mystery on what will become of the franchise.

falloutvita

1. Fallout

Fallout on Vita would be unbelievably innovative. Riding the bus and have a second to play? Turn on Fallout, kill some bandits, find loot, and turn off. The fact that the Vita never actually shuts down could be a huge strong suit for a Fallout Vita game. You could seamlessly return exactly where you left off and continue your quest. The amount of time players spend in Fallout games could keep Vita owners busy for the rest of the console lifespan! Sure having a game this massive comes with technical hiccups, and might not even be possible on the hardware. But this is what mobile gamers hope to experience one day.

So, what franchises do you think should come to PS Vita? Do you agree with me? Disagree? Leave it all in the comments below!
