Despite speculation that Nintendo will be revealing new hardware at E3 this year, Nintendo put those rumors to rest.
Nintendo told CVG that although rumors were circulating yesterday that Nintendo would be pulling back the curtain on a new piece of hardware (either an iteration on a console or something entirely new), the curtain really has nothing behind it.
Nintendo stated, “We wish to achieve an integrated hardware-software platform business that, instead of providing mobile or wearable features, will be characterized by a new area of what we like to call ‘non-wearable’ technology.”
These rumors came about in a financial call, where Nintendo announced at a financial call that it is indeed working on new hardware.
My Opinion
Nintendo, believe it or not, isn’t stupid. If they were going to reveal some hardware, they would make a big deal about it. They would actually physically appear at E3 at a live conference, at only appearing on a Nintendo Digital event. If there were anytime this hardware would be announced, then it would be at Tokyo Game Show or next year’s E3, possibly even at their own live event. In any case, this year’s Nintendo’s E3 Direct will focus on games, and I would love to see what they have in store.

That’s good. Nintendo needs to focus on games instead of hardware.
