Sony has officially announced that their upcoming MMORPG Everquest Next will indeed be coming to the PlayStation 4. This announcement comes after mass speculation on whether or not the game would be coming to PlayStation or not.
The news comes from Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley, who took part in a Reddit AMA following the recent news that several of SOE’s MMO’s (Vanguard, Clone Wars Adventures, Free Realms, and Wizardry Online) will be closing later this year.
“We will absolutely be bringing Everquest Next to PS4!” Smedley wrote on Reddit, though he was less willing to announce a release date for either version of the game.
We still don’t have a firm release date for the MMO yet, though we suspect it will be some time in the summer of this year. That is if it’s not delayed.
Smedley was also questioned about the state of the PlayStation 4 port of their game PlanetSide 2, to which Smedley replied “This year is what we’re shooting for. It’s taking time to do this right but coming along great.”
PlanetSide 2 is available for free now on PC.
I pretty much always knew that Everquest Next was coming to the PlayStation 4, I mean come on, it just doesn’t make any sense for it not to. And I’m really happy that it is, it’s always nice to give the PS4 another console exclusive. I’m really looking forward to playing it. As for PlanetSide 2, I’m sure it will be fine and come out soon, I’m looking forward to playing it.
