PlayStation 4 Hits Six Million Units Sold

Sony has confirmed today that the PlayStation 4 has hit over six million units sold in just a four month time span.

Sony previously announced that the new console had hit around five million last month. This new figure comes after the Japanese launch of the PS4, where the console sold over 320K units during its first two days. The console has also sold around 13 million games, with Killzone Shadow Fall taking 2.1 million of those.

The last time we received sales figures from Microsoft was around the end of last year, where they reported three million Xbox Ones had been sold, though around 3.9 million were actually shipped to retailers.

The PlayStation 4 launched worldwide on November 15th, 2013 and sold a million consoles on launch day. The system is available for the retail price of $399,99, if you can find one, that is.

My Opinion

This is amazing! The original goal was to sell five million by the end of March, and it has now obviously shattered that. It makes me wonder just how many they will manage to sell by the end of the month, my money is on 6.5 – 7 million.
