Ubisoft released their overall sales figures, and its most popular series, Assassin’s Creed, sold 73 million copies over the entire series.
On Ubisoft’s website, they announced their figures for all of their franchises and the company itself. With over 9000 employees under their belt, they sold over 1.25 billion € worth of software ($1.73 billion US dollars) in the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
Of their best-selling franchises, Assassin’s Creed tops the list at 73 million lifetime sales, followed by Just Dance at 48 million and all three Tom Clancy series (Splinter Cell sold 30 million, Rainbow Six sold 26 million, and Ghost Recon sold 25 million).
My Opinion
I will admit, I fell out of Assassin’s Creed after 3 bored me to death even before I met Conner. I skipped Black Flag, although I may give Unity a try if it can get my interest again. Other than that, this proves that Ubisoft is huge, and that Assassin’s Creed is huge for them. I sadly don’t see this franchise going away anytime soon, as I want to see what their newer stuff can do. I cannot wait to see what they have up their sleeves with Watch Dogs (or is it Watch_Dogs?).
