The PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection for May 2014 have been revealed for both North America and Europe and includes purple mind-arms, losing your head, and more.
As always, the Instant Game Collection replaces the current month’s titles if they are not already purchased, so be sure to collect April’s games before they are gone.
Both Europe and North America get the PS4 game Stick to the Man, a point-and-click platformer about a guy with a major problem: he has a gigantic purple arm sticking out of his head that is able to manipulate memories and cause our protagonist to get chased.
Both territories also get the PS3 game Puppeteer, a game that follows Kutaro on a stage who loses his head. He then goes on the quest to defeat the Moon Bear King using different interchangeable heads and a pair of magic scissors.
North America also get two extra PS3 games. These include Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2014, an obviously American soccer simulator that uses the spectacular Fox Engine that Metal Gear Solid V and Ground Zeroes works on.
America also gets Skullgirls Encore, an update to the original Skullgirls fighting game that features great combos and the great characters of the Dark Deco world all in glorious 2D fashion.
Europe only gets one extra PS3 title, but it’s PAYDAY 2, a first person heist game where up to four players can plan and perform multiple bank jobs from start to getaway. With four different classes to choose from, this tactical shooter provides several opportunities to take the cash and get away.
For the PlayStation Vita, both Europe and North America get two games apiece, but they are completely different from each other. For example, North America gets Limbo, the shadowy indie platformer where players take control of a young boy in a dark and threatening world. One of the most acclaimed indie games out there, this game finally makes its way to the Vita, although it is not cross-buy.
North America also sees Surge Deluxe, a puzzle game where players must clear obstacles from electrical circuits in order to keep the power going for humanity.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Everybody’s Golf is available for the Instant Game Collection. Everybody’s Golf, or Hot Shots World Golf Invitational, is the latest in the wacky golf series that takes the golf sim and turns it upside down on the Vita.
Muramasa Rebirth rounds out the list for Europe. Muramasa Rebirth is a port of the action RPG from the Wii to the Vita where players control an amnesiac criminal who, along with his two companions, go on a quest to find a sword.
As always, these games are available to play for free as long as the user has an active PlayStation Plus account. They are also only available like this for a month, so get them before they are gone.
My Opinion:
I am not complaining about “free” games, but I am slightly disappointed in this. Stick it to the Man doesn’t seem like the best game to be on a console but instead on a touchscreen platform like the Vita. The other games run the gambit from the awesome, like Puppeteer and Limbo, to the forgettable, such as Surge Deluxe. I would have liked to see something a little better, especially seeing some of the big releases coming in May.
