June PlayStation Plus Games Revealed, Brings Change

The PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection for June 2014 has been revealed, but with it comes news of changes that are coming for the Instant Game Collection after four years.

First of all, the PlayStation Blog revealed that the Instant Game Collection will have two PlayStation 4 games, two PlayStation 3 games and two PlayStation Vita games starting in June. However, there could be more Vita games if a game is available for Cross-Buy. Also, starting in July, when these games become available for download is also changing. Instead of these games becoming available and leaving every week every week, all of these games will be available at the first Tuesday of the month and will rotate with next month’s games on the following first Tuesday.

For June, Europe and the US will share their PS4 games on the Instant Game Collection. First of all, Trine 2: Complete Story will appear. This game is a fantasy action platformer where players can play as a wizard, a knight or a thief as they solve various puzzles and explore the world.

The second game on the IGC for the PS4 is Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate, a twin-stick shooter where scientific research goes wrong. Using different elements to manipulate the environment, you uncover the mystery behind the research. This game is also cross-buy with the Vita, so Vita owners will be able to take this game also.

Europe and the US will also share one game for the PS3 in the form of NBA 2K14. This game is the 2014 iteration of the 2K basketball franchise.

In Europe, the other PS3 game will be Lone Survivor, an indie game that follows the adventures of a masked traveler looking for a survivor in a disease-stricken world. Also using cross-buy, Vita owners will also get the game.

The US’s PS3 game will be Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, which follows the Thievius Raccoon on his fourth adventure and his first through time and space. This game is also available via cross-buy with the Vita.

The Vita games for June are much different for both regions. In the US, one of the Vita games is Terraria, the 2D version of Minecraft that is very well received that has procedural generation and enemies.

The second Vita game is Mutant Mudds Deluxe, a Wii U game that was ported over to the Vita. A retro-inspired game, Mutant Mudds Deluxe has players gather materials within a certain time limit.

Those across the pond will get Dragon’s Crown, a fantasy RPG that players dive into to hunt for treasure and solve the mystery of the agressive dragon.

The second game for the IGC for Europe is Surge Deluxe, a puzzle game where players must prevent an overflow or current and manage the power of a city.

Be sure to gather these games before they are gone!

My Opinion:

I love this month’s games. I was disappointed with last month’s offerings, but this month shows that PlayStation can deliver. I will definitely be picking up Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate, Trine 2, and Sly Cooper, and I have a feeling that Terraria will chew up a lot of my time until Minecraft appears on the handheld. What games are you most excited for?
