In a Miiverse post, Super Smash Bros. game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed screenshots and a bit of information regarding a new stage for the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. In the screens, Sakurai laid out a description of the stage as: “Mushroom Kingdom U! It brings to life the worlds of New Super Mario Bros. U.”
Sakurai went on to say, “When Kamek casts a spell, the stage transforms drastically!” Kamek, a wizard-like boss in many Mario games, was an antagonist in New Super Mario Bros. U. Presumably; this gives the developers the opportunity to have the stage cover some of the many different worlds in New Super Mario Bros. U, using established story elements.
In his post, Sakurai added that this stage will be playable in the demo that will be on the show floor at E3. Fans of the series can attempt to find a kiosk at a local Best Buy from June 9th – 12th to play the game, along with the other Nintendo demos featured on the E3 showroom floor.
My Opinion:
I think it’s a no-brainer to create a New Super Mario Bros. U stage. I have enjoyed fighting on all the other Mario themed stages in the previous iterations of Super Smash Bros. I like the attention to detail the developer is putting into the game, and Sakurai’s documentation and daily teases of Smash Bros. content is a great way for him to keep me interested in the game. I look forward to getting my hands on the game next week at Best Buy to see if it’s as fun as I hope it will be.
Dustin LaRoe is pretty awful at games. If you want proof of how bad he is, watch him stream on Twitch as Guy105. His Gamertag and Steam ID are Guy 105.
