The Halo digital feature produced by Ridley Scott has started filming in Belfast Ireland, according to the Belfast Telegraph.“343 Industries, Xbox Entertainment Studios, and Scott Free Productions are currently working on a Halo digital feature project to be released later this year….Sergio Mimica-Gezzan will direct” the newspaper reports.

Ridley Scott’s Halo feature is but a part of Microsoft’s effort to release exclusive video content on its Xbox and Windows devices in the form of Xbox Originals. Steven Spielberg has also been hired to work with the Halo property and is producing a television show. The two projects are not related.

According to the Belfast Telegraph Paul Scheuring (creator of Prison Break) has written the script for Scott’s Halo project and Mike Colter (The Good Wife) will star in it.

“More details about the film, including additional cast, are due to be announced next month.”

My Opinion:

I’m a big fan of the Halo franchise, but without more knowledge, it’s hard to get excited at this news. I can’t really imagine Ridley Scott (or Steven Spielberg for that matter) having too much involvement since he’s only on as a producer. Still, I’ve heard good things about Prison Break, so having Paul Scheuring on board is pretty cool, and I’ll freely admit to being curious about the casting lineup for this.
