New Project from Final Fantasy Creator Will be Revealed at Japan Expo

Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the long-running Final Fantasy series, will unveil his new secret project on July 2nd at the Japan Expo in Paris.

The reveal will be part of a larger conference at the Japan Expo, where Sakaguchi will discuss his career in the industry as well as the future of games and gaming. The developer will also be staying for a signing session and photo shoot for the fans in attendance.

There is no word on what exactly the project will be (or even if it’s a video game at all), so we’ll have to wait until this Wednesday for more details.

My Opinion:

I’m awfully curious, but with no information to go off of, it’s hard to say more than that. Given that Sakaguchi will be discussing the future of the gaming medium, my best guess at this point is that his project will be a game that demonstrates some or all of his vision. But who knows? In any case, Sakaguchi has had a long and successful career, so I’m sure we’ll hear some interesting stories from him at the event.
