Marie will be joining the roster of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax as a DLC character, according to Siliconera.
This marks the first appearance of Marie as a playable character in the Persona series. Her only previous appearance was in Persona 4 Golden, where she was a Social Link and resident of the Velvet Room, but not a member of the player’s party.
Marie will fight using the Persona Kaguya, which also made its first appearance in Persona 4 Golden as the Persona you receive for maxing out Marie’s Social Link. In addition, she will pull various objects from her bag for use in battle. Her fighting style will feature a variety of long-ranged attacks, so maintaining distance from the opponent will be important when playing as Marie.
Siliconera later spotted some screenshots on the Famitsu website showing Marie and Kaguya in action:
These screenshots show what appears to be a weather icon above Marie’s SP Gauge, hinting that her fighting style will incorporate weather control, a power she was shown to have in Persona 4 Golden.
Marie is the second DLC character announced for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, the other being Tohru Adachi, who will be free for the first week after the American release of the game.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will launch in America on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this Fall.
My Opinion:
Sounds good to me! I’m really curious to see some more of her fighting style. Marie is something of a divisive character in the Persona fandom, but I enjoyed her character arc in Golden and thought it added to the game. I’m also wondering how they’ll write her Persona-using ability into the game, as she hasn’t been seen using a Persona until now.
