New Assassin’s Creed Unity Info Revealed

Ubisoft revealed a LOT of new details about Assassin’s Creed Unity this weekend at San Diego Comic Con.

While we were not able to attend this year, the official Assassin’s Creed Twitter filled us in on what we missed:

  • The French Revolution setting provides massive crowds, great characters, and new narrative opportunities, and was a perfect setting for a game.
  • The French Revolution brought a lot of contrast. It’s brutal and chaotic, but it led to amazing stories that are captured in the game.
  • Arno starts on his own mission for redemption, but he soon realizes there’s so much more for him to do for the people of France.
  • Arno is witty, funny and direct.
  • Arno starts off pretty selfish, but as he gets stronger he becomes more a part of the larger fight of the French Revolution.
  • There’s also a bit of a love interest.
  • Arno has real personal motivations driving his quest.
  • The game is more systemic. The developers want chaos to happen. There are several factions that interact with each other on their own. This means that events happen around you even if you don’t intervene. It makes the city feel more alive and more unpredictable.
  • There are seamless interiors you can enter with no loading. Once you’re in Paris, there’s no loading.
  • One major focus for ACU is character progression. You can collect and customize your items and skills to make Arno your own.
  • You take your version of Arno into co-op, so how you progress your character affects how you play everywhere.
  • There aren’t any explicit cameos from the older chapters of the series, but previous characters are alluded to in the story.

More information was revealed in an interview Geeky Castillo on YouTube:

  • All of your friends on your friends list are in your world as well and you can run into them and start a co-op mission on the fly.
  • Not every building is enterable, but most of them are.
  • No transitions between cinematics and gameplay.
  • Main campaign is 15-20 hours long.
  • More than 100 hours in gameplay with side content added in, not including online multiplayer.
  • Paris is the biggest city ever made in the Assassin’s Creed series.  It is as big as all of the dry land in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag combined.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is scheduled to release on October 28th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

My Opinion:

It’s good to know that the protagonist will have a sense of humor again.  I really miss Ezio’s easy going personality.  I am still very intrigued by the “seamless” co-op gameplay that will be in Unity.  If they pull it off it could change the series forever.  However, I do like the fact that I can still play my game single-player and not run into problems.  It is also cool that it sounds like you can set it to only have your friends in your world, and not just everyone online in the world.  I am a little more excited for Assassin’s Creed Unity after all of this.
