The Trion published MMO, ArcheAge, will be seeing its official North American release this upcoming Tuesday, September 16th. However, if waiting isn’t your thing, you can still purchase one of the Founder’s Packs ($49.49 – $149.99) to enter the Head Start. Which will allow you unrestricted access to the game right now, as well as bestow upon you a trove of goodies depending on the Pack you buy.
ArcheAge is a free-to-play fantasy-sandbox game that has been live in Russia since January 15, 2013. Unlike games such as World of Warcraft, that call themselves “Themeparks” (constant vertical progression), ArcheAge calls itself a“Sandbox” (horizontal progression and heavy player influence in the game world). Seeing this newer type of MMO going up against the bevy of Themepark MMOs should be interesting.
My Opinion:
I’ve been following ArcheAge for a while now, and I’m super excited to finally sit down and play some of it today without worrying about my progress being wiped. Hopefully it’ll be everything that I want it to be, and it should be a nice juxtaposition from my current love affair with Final Fantasy XIV, which is a Themepark MMO. I’m still really hopeful that ArcheAge will come to consoles, but we’ll see if news of that ever returns.
