Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Sells 1 Million Units in Japan

Nintendo announced that Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS sold over one million copies in Japan during its first weekend.

This number includes both digital and retail copies of the game, making it one of the most successful launches for a 3DS game in Japan.  Nintendo also noted that they have shipped one million units to stores.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS makes its way to North America on October 3rd while Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is rumored to launch November 21st, however Nintendo has only given a Holiday 2014 release window.

My Opinion:

The Super Smash Bros. franchise is one of Nintendo’s biggest franchises, and it doesn’t come as a surprise to see that it is selling well overseas.  This news only makes me more excited to get my hands on the 3DS and Wii U versions of the game.
