This is Lou, your one and only Nintendo Ninja, and if you are reading this, whether you are a new or old fan, first and foremost: Thank You! Thanks to your patronage, we are looking to expand and bring more content, both written and video, over to you. But that brings us to the more important matter!
Have you ever wanted to try out gaming journalism? Want your own platform to spread your opinions on your favorite games? We are looking to bring on some new writers, editors, community managers, and content creators to help build the site.
Qualifications are minimal — all it takes is a love of gaming and want to be in a like-minded gaming community. We do all the training on format, grammar, etc. for writers and editors. If you make it on the team, all you have to do is write a minimum of one story a week! This will qualify you to receive free, early-access review copies from a sizable chunk of developers/publishers. We also keep a presence at all your favorite conferences (E3, PAX, Comic Con), so if you live in the nearby area we can work on grabbing you press badges.
Unfortunately, the position is unpaid (besides the occasionally often review copies). Any ad revenue we make goes to keeping the website online and running giveaways. Instead, all of us use MONG as a platform to build our “journalism” portfolio — arguably the most important aspect in applying to IGN.
Check out the site, feel free to comment if you have any questions! If you want to apply, feel free to apply here: https://middleofnowheregaming.com/application/
Thanks again and I can’t wait to see you on the team!
Lou Contaldi is MONG’s Executive Editor. In his off time, he enjoys being aggressively mediocre at Hearthstone. You can follow his incoherent ramblings at Twitter.
