Your local movie theater isn’t the only place to see John Wick in action.  The titular character portrayed by Keanu Reeves is now playable in Payday 2.  The developers at Overkill, have teamed with Lionsgate Studios in a fitting bit of cross-promotion.  In the film, Reeves portrays a retired  hitman who goes on a killing rampage when  mob goons take away the one cherished thing left in his life: the dog given to him by his late wife.  John Wick just debuted #2 at the box-office this weekend and is receiving high praise from critics for its stylish action.

Fans of the film can now bring the character home with them via Payday 2.  The free DLC not only features the assassin but also a new perk system granting gamers the ability to dual wield weapons, just like John Wick in the movie.  It also introduces a new Chimano Compact pistol, new knife, and customizable sunglasses.  If you are going to be shooting up tons of enemies to complete the mission, why not look cool doing so?

For an added cross-promotional bonus, anyone who purchases tickets for John Wick through Fandango receives a free copy of Payday 2 via a Steam download code.

My Opinion:  

Action films are my favorite film genre, and I really want to see John Wick.  On the surface it might seem like a generic action vehicle for Keanu Reeves, but all the positive praise I have heard about it makes me believe it delivers a bloody good time.  Payday 2’s developers have made some very clever DLC choices, first with Hotline Miami and now with this.  Kudos to them for continuing to bring interesting content to their game world.
