Tekken 7 is set to hit Japanese arcades early next year and now we have a gameplay trailer showing the newest entry of the series in action. While the trailer is in Japanese, the majority of the fighting fisticuffs speak for themselves. It takes a look at some of the new fighting mechanics in the series and offers the first look at new characters Claudio Serafino and Katarina Alves in action.
Claudio is an Italian man and with his white jacket and light arrow energy conjured from his hand, he almost reminds me of a quincy from Bleach. Katarina is a Latin American woman who practices the art of Savate, the French martial art which combines boxing and devastating kicking techniques.
Tekken 7 introduces 2 new fighting mechanics, Rage Art and Power Crush. Rage Art allows players in a weakened, critical state to stage a comeback with a series of unblockable moves inflicting major damage. Power Crush allows you to take damage from enemy attacks, but stay in range for setting up a counterattack on your opponent.
Watch the trailer below for all the wall busting and ground smashing action of Tekken 7.
My Opinion:
I’ve been a fan of the Tekken series since it debuted back in 1994. Although I’m not great at playing them, fighting games are my favorite genre of video games. I am happy to see the series continue to stick around even as the popularity of the fighting genre has waned in recent years. While no official details have been released on a console release, I am optimistic it will eventually hit current console systems.

Any word on if this will be a PS4 exclusive?

So far no console details have been announced. If I had to speculate, I don’t see it being a PS4 exclusive in the future.
