There are many important elements when developing a videogame, from the graphics to the gameplay. In this behind the scenes video posted by the PlayStation Blog, developer Ready At Dawn gives a glimpse at one of those elements, music. The Order: 1886 is their big debut on the PlayStation 4 and a lot of thought was given when creating the world of the game. To accomplish this task from a music standpoint, they hired Jason Graves, who served as composer on the title. Music was essential to transporting players to the Steampunk-Victorian era setting of the game.
Everything from a live orchestra to an all male choir were brought in for recording. What instruments were and were not chosen all factored into developing a unique, cohesive sound for The Order: 1886. Watch the video below for more insight.
My Opinion:
The Order: 1886 has received a lot of buzz, both positive and negative. Gamers were excited about the Steampunk world of the new IP and its impressive graphics. On the other hand, there was concern about the actual gameplay and delay of the title to early next year. Ideally, this would have been the flagship title for Sony’s 2014 holiday season. I am hoping the extra development time will result in another reason to own a PS4. From the video above, it certainly appears Ready At Dawn has the music covered.
