To celebrate the 20th anniversary of PlayStation, Sony has released a new theme for the PlayStation consoles that features the startup sounds of the original PlayStation.

The theme will allow PlayStation users to hear the iconic PlayStation startup sounds. It’s available to North America and EU on their PlayStation Store.

Along with the new theme, Sony has also announced a Limited Edition 20th Anniversary PlayStation 4 console. The color for the new PlayStation 4 is ‘Original Grey,’ the same color of the original PlayStation back in 1994.

Sony will only produce 12,300 of the limited edition Original Grey PlayStation 4 console and will cost €499 in the EU territory. Sony will explain how to get one during the PlayStation Experience keynote on December 6th, 10am PT/ 1am ET.

My Opinion:

As soon as I heard about this I knew I had to download that theme. While I’m not one to “choose a side,” I always felt a little closer to the PlayStation brand than the other companies. The first PlayStation game I played was the original Tomb Raider in 1996. I was 10 at the time, so PlayStation became part of my childhood and life.
