The latest gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat X offers our first look at fan favorites Kung Lao and Kitana in action. Images of an older Kung Lao had previously surfaced online, but no gameplay footage was available until now. He might be older, but our favorite hat-throwing monk still knows how to deliver a beatdown. Trademark moves from Kung Lao such as his flying kicks and hat throws are all present in the trailer.
Along with Kung Lao, comes our first glimpse at Kitana. The Princess of Edenia sports a new look. She still wields her trademark steel fans, but ditches the scantily clad wardrobe for more practical attire. Kitana has pants now and has her hair pinned up in hoop-like fashion.
Unchanged is the visceral screeching sound her fans make as they carve through the flesh of her opponents. Kitana is not to be taken lightly as Kano finds out the hard way at the end of the trailer.
Experience all the bloody carnage first-hand on April 14th when Mortal Kombat X releases for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
My Opinion:
Mortal Kombat X might be my most anticipated game this year. I plan on waiting to buy a PS4 until this game drops in April. With each new character reveal and gameplay trailer shown, my anticipation grows. My favorite moment from the trailer comes courtesy of Kung Lao. The series of back bending punches he unleashes upon Quan Chi in the footage, is gloriously brutal. I like the new characters that have been added to the mix, but still would like to see some old favorites return to the fold. Noob Saibot and Jade please!
