New Need for Speed Announced

A new Need for Speed game has been announced by developer Ghost Games.

The next game in the franchise will be called… Need for Speed. Ghost Games has confirmed that the game will serve as a reboot for the series:

“Need for Speed is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we’re returning it to greatness in this reboot,”

“Pulling on our 20 years of history, and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we’ve always wanted to. We’re listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed.”

Regarding what features the game will have, they promised this:

“The new NFS game will feature deep customisation, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that pulls you through the game.”

Only a release window was given for Need for Speed; it should launch this fall on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. On top of all this information, a teaser trailer has been released. The full trailer will be revealed next month on June 15th at E3:

My Opinion:

A new Need for Speed is great, but why could they not have added a subtitle or attached a number to the end? I also do not see why this is a reboot; the series has never had a connecting narrative and changes are constantly made in the entries so there is nothing to reboot.
