Shovel Knight Coming to Retailers

The downloadable game Shovel Knight will soon get a retail release.

Physical copies of Shovel Knight will be available on October 13th for $19.99. The physical release will be for Wii U, 3DS, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Even though the game is available digitally for PlayStation 3, Vita, and PC a retail copy will not be available for those platforms.

Shovel Knight, developed by Yacht Club Games, is a platformer with an 8-bit style  that pays homage to NES era platformers. It was a Kickstarter success and launched on June 26th, 2014, for Wii U, 3DS, and PC. Earlier this year, the game also came to PS3, PS4, Vita, and Xbox One.

Our review called Shovel Knight the best Mega Man ever made.”

My Opinion:

My personal preference for games is physical, and I am a bit disappointed I already bought the digital copy. However the game is purchased, Shovel Knight remains a fantastic experience that I recommend to anyone, even if they did not grow up in the 8-bit era.
