Free Volume Expansion Announced

A free expansion for the stealth game Volume was announced today.

Mike Bithell, lead designer of Volume, revealed the expansion on the PlayStation Blog. The name for the expansion is Volume: Coda and it serves as a sequel to the main game. It will add 30 new levels to the game and an expanded cast of characters, including a new playable character.

A specific release date for Volume: Coda was not revealed, because it will launch right alongside PlayStation VR, which is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2016. The same date will also bring VR support to the entirety of Volume, not just the expansion.

An update to the game is also available today. The Checkpoints Update adds two new checkpoint options. The Freedom mode enables checkpoints at all times and is the original mode. Lockdown disables checkpoints whenever the player is discovered by enemies. Last but not least, Execution disables checkpoints altogether. Each mode features separate leaderboards.

Bithell also reassures people that the Vita version is still under development. No sort of release window was given.

My Opinion:

Volume is one of my favorite games this year, and I am very excited for this expansion. Hopefully PlayStation VR does not get pushed back from its vague release window.
