Sony Announces Quantic Dream Blockbuster Rereleases

Sony announced via a Playstation Blog post that Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls are getting re-released on Playstation 4.

Guillaume de Fondaumiere, co-CEO of Quantic Dream, announced in the blog post a November 24 release date for Beyond: Two Souls, and March 1,  2016 for Heavy Rain. Information was limited for Heavy Rain besides that those who purchase Beyond: Two Souls will be able to get the second game at a discount. No price point was announced.

For Beyond, it was announced it’ll be available for $29.99 on the Playstation Store, and includes “new fan-requested features.” Improvements mentioned include enhanced 1080p graphics, decisions made being highlighted at the end of each scene, improved controls, increased difficulty in certain fights, and being able to play the game in chronological order from the start of the game.

The French version of the press release detailed a physical combo release for the UK only. Quantic Dream has not said if they plan to do the same for the US.

My Opinion:

It’s odd to see a re-release include the improvement, “You can now play the game in order.” Beyond: Two Souls missed the mark for me, but I’ll be waiting to hear word about Heavy Rain’s price and the discount for getting both. If it’s enticing enough, I’ll get both, which I think was Quantic Dream and Sony’s plan all along. With the huge influx of Playstation players from last gen to current, it’s a great way to introduce them to a masterpiece in Heavy Rain, and build excitement for Quantic Dream’s next game, Detroit: Become Human.

    1. Hey Particle, author here. I think it’ll help immensely. The biggest reason I never finished Beyond was the story was told non-linear, which added to the confusion of an already odd story. It broke immersion for me. It’s nowhere near Heavy Rain, and I’ll never claim it is. That said, if the discount is there, and it interests you, I’d say it’s worth a go. I’m going to give it a second chance.

      Cheers,
      Christian
