Berserk Game Coming West This Fall

The Berserk musou game, titled simply Berserk, is coming to North America sometime this fall.

The game is being developed by Dynasty Warriors creator Omega Force and will feature gameplay very similar to that series. The Dynasty Warriors series, and now Berserk, focuses on large scale combat (often times hundreds of enemies will be fought at once) and features relatively simple combo based third person action. Even though enemies are mowed down by the dozens, the violence in Dynasty Warriors is tame. On the other hand, Berserk will stick close to its source material and depicts violence much more graphically.

The first four story arcs of the manga will be covered in Berserk. A variety of playable characters, locations, and enemies will from across the manga will also be featured.

As of now, there is no specific release date beyond Fall 2016. It will launch in Japan on September 21st, so hopefully the North American release date is not too far behind that. It will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC. The game is getting released on PlayStation 3 in Japan, but the version will not be making its way to North America.

My Opinion:

I have been playing One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 lately, which has made me realize I enjoy the Warriors-style games. Berserk has always intrigued me, but the length of the manga has put me off from purchasing it, and the series lacks a worthwhile anime adaption. Even so, I might pick this up and skip all of the cutscenes just in case I decide to go deeper into the series.
