According to a recent press release issued by Nintendo, the Nintendo 3DS Handheld has recently surpassed the Ten million mark in sales. This is no surprise, being that In November, Nintendo pushed out two giant exclusives for the 3DS, those being “Pokemon: X & Y” and “The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds” . Both games were system sellers, with a Legend of Zelda 3DS bundle selling over 200K units in November. The 3DS pushed an impressive 770K units during November.
We have no word on the sales of the more recent Nintendo 2DS, the cheaper redesigned 3DS that lacks the 3D capability of the original and 3DS XL, which was released on October 12th, 2013.
The Nintendo 3DS is currently in the lead over it’s main rival, the PlayStation Vita. The Vita, which had an abysmal start and is still trying to rebound from it, is around five million units behind the 3DS. Most analysts agree that the 3DS will maintain a healthy lead over the Vita as the generation goes on.
I’m glad that the 3DS is doing well, I just wish Sony could do something with the Vita to make it more competitive with the 3DS. As it sits, the Vita is well behind, and I don’t want to see that. Note: I don’t own a 3DS or a Vita, unfortunately.
