inFAMOUS: Second Son is Single Player Only

Despite what was listed on a Japanese site claiming that the game had multiplayer, the brand development director has come out to state otherwise.

Ken Schramm clarified the situation in conversation with Taiwanese site UDN (through the news site Dualshockers) where he explained that while Delsin will meet multiple NPCs throughout the course of the game, it’s designed as a single-player experience.

Though Schramm did state that the game has an open architecture, meaning that quests can be done outside of the main story at any point (think Elder Scrolls). He also stated that some quests only appear if you are aligned a certain way.

Infamous: Second Son will be available at retail on March 21st, 2014. There will be two Collectors Editions of the game available.

My Opinion

Infamous: Second Son was half the reason I bought a PS4 (The other half being Battlefield 4, which was also the reason I bought one at launch). And while it is somewhat unfortunate that it doesn’t have multiplayer, I never really expected it too.
