Japanese Xbox One Plans Teased

Microsoft is planning to reveal its plans for the Xbox One in Japan, which includes a major exclusive and an appearence at Tokyo Game Show.

In a fireside chat at GDC, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Game Studios, Phil Spencer, said, “I’m very excited about the announcement of the release window in Japan. An unique exclusive title for Xbox One is going to be released by an awesome Japanese studio.” This, along with a confirmation on Twitter, where he tweeted, “Exclusives are critical to platform success.”, it seems that Microsoft is putting a harder focus on their exclusive titles.

On the topic of conferences, he expressed his excitement for Tokyo Game Show, saying, “I want to show everyone something never seen before.” He also went on to say that at E3, “you’ll see very few execs. We are already over our 90 minute time limit and having to move stuff out of show.”

My Opinion

The Xbox One has been struggling with exclusive titles, although it did get a huge bump from Titanfall. It seems that Microsoft is going to announce many things at E3, especially with the absence of titles from the previous E3 like Sunset Overdrive. Microsoft has many games up its sleeves and is ready to show the world exactly what the Xbox One is capable of. That being said, remember Blue Dragon, the Hironobu Sakaguchi Xbox 360 exclusive RPG? That game didn’t move many consoles, and with the Xbox One being the last console to launch in Japan this generation, a game like that would not save Microsoft’s console. I would like to see what this Japanese game will be. Is it another RPG like Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey, or will it be completely different? Only time will tell.
