Daylight Delayed

The PlayStation 4 and PC horror game, Daylight, from Zombie Studios and ATLUS is being delayed for three weeks until April 29 in order to make the game scarier.

Daylight, a survival horror game where the player is armed with only a cell phone was originally planned for April 8.However, itl was pushed back due to the difficult nature of the procedurally generated world. ATLUS, the publisher of the game stated “[i]n a lot of ways it really helped the team by streamlining the environment creation, but it’s taken extra time to make sure all the scare cues are properly implemented for maximum player effect.”

To apologize, Daylight will be discounted for PlayStation Plus subscribers, who will be able to get the game at $9.99 the first week after release, before reverting back to its original price of $14.99. PC pre-orders of the game will also see the discounted price, although regular copies will be sold at the original price.

My Opinion

While not the biggest fan of the survival horror genre, I can still appreciate the fact that this game has a procedurally generated world. However, the term “scare cues” doesn’t bode well for me. I believe that this game will take off, especially at the PS+ discount, so I will try to pick this up when it comes out.
