Nintendo’s design team told Edge Magazine that the next Mario game is currently in development, but could not confirm whether or not it will be on Wii U or 3DS.
Yoshiaki Koizumi, the producer for Super Mario Galaxy, was asked about which console the next Mario game will be on. “That’s still a secret!” he said. “I can tell you, though, that we’ve already started approaching our next challenge.”
Though, if it is on Wii U, they said that it could make better use of the GamePad. The co-director of Super Mario 3D World, Kenta Motokura, stated that they “might need to make even more use of the GamePad.”
My Opinion:
Let’s hope it is a Wii U game. It has been discussed many times over that the Wii U’s biggest problem is that it has a serious lack of games, and this could help cover that wound. I am a huge Mario fan, but haven’t been enticed to buy a Wii U yet. If they can pull of some cool innovations using the GamePad in the next game, they may be able to reel me in to finally making the purchase.
