Don’t worry everyone. It’s official! There will be a Call of Duty game this year!
After what I am sure was a long worrisome wait for most of you, the next Call of Duty game has been confirmed. After it was leaked yesterday, Activision released a trailer that officially revealed that this year’s entry will be called Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and it will be developed by Sledgehammer Games. Sledgehammer Games is known for being a co-developer on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, but this will be their first title developed by themselves in the series.
Even bigger news to come from this trailer is that our favorite House of Cards actor, Kevin Spacey, will apparently portray the fictional president in this year’s iteration. Kevin Spacey then confirmed that he is in fact in the game this morning in a tweet.
The trailer is full of everything you can imagine futuristic warfare would look like: exoskeleton armored suits, invisible helicopters, holographic maps (lol), invisibility cloaks, hovercrafts, hoverbikes, gloves that let you climb walls, walking tanks that use railguns, etc.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be released on November 4, 2014. There is no official word on which platforms it will be on, but it is safe to assume since the trailer was shown on Xbox One that it will at least be on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Also, Amazon has it listed for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
My Opinion:
Another Call of Duty game? Color me shocked. No, in all seriousness; I try to stop buying these every year and they find a way to pull me back in. Advanced Warfare looks like a hell of a lot of fun. And then when you add in Frank Underwood (we can only hope he plays Frank in the game)? Oh man!
