In the later hours of yesterday evening, Vice President and Co-Founder of Epic Games Mark Rein took to the almighty Twitter with news of a new Unreal Tournament game, teasing more information this upcoming Thursday at 2:00 p.m. on Twitch.tv.
The cat’s first attempt at escaping the bag came from Paul Meegan, also of Epic Games:

Mark Rein followed up with more grounded confirmation, allowing our cat to run free from his confining metaphor:
It’s been six years since we’ve seen an Unreal Tournament game, the last one being Unreal Tournament 3; it looks like that will change this upcoming Thursday.
My Opinion
I have plenty of opinions on this. The first one is: Wow, it’s amazing how Twitter has become a delivery method for news. Apparently magic can happen in under 140 characters!
My more important opinion is more an emotion, and that emotion is elation. Unreal Tournament: 2004 was one of the games I played addictively in high school, and it’s one I have fond memories of. I’ve been yearning for that kind of arena shooter for years, one with tons of players, vehicles, and the gall to give every player a rocket launcher or three because that’s just fun. I want that again. I want that so much.
