Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls Online has been delayed for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One by about 6 months.
In a blog post on The Elder Scrolls Online’s official site, Bethesda stated that there was “a series of unique problems specific to those platforms [the PS4 and Xbox One]”
The blog post continued. “Integrating our systems with each console manufacturer’s networks—which are both different from the PC/Mac system as well as different from each other—has been a challenging process.”
In the same blog, Bethesda confirmed that it is due to the these circumstances that the console versions of The Elder Scrolls Online has been delayed. “It has become clear that our planned June release of the console versions isn’t going to be possible…Though we have made great progress, we have concluded that we’ll need about six months to ensure we deliver the experience our fans expect and deserve.”
Bethesda also introduced a special offer to anyone who purchases The Elder Scrolls Online by the end of June. These players will be able to transfer their character(s) to either console as soon as it’s released. Additionally, these players will also be able to get The Elder Scrolls Online for $20 (or £12.99 if you’re from the UK) and 30 days added to their subscription.
My Opinion
It’s always sad news to hear about game delays but it is becoming more and more frequent in the games industry. However, it seems like this was necessary. It is good to see that PC – and Mac – players will be able to transfer their character(s) and get a discount on the game for console!
