PlayStation Best Sellers for April 2014

The PlayStation store has released its numbers for what was purchased on the PlayStation Store for April 2014, and some of the purchases were surprising.

For the PlayStation 3, the top game was Minecraft, which isn’t surprising, but the second, third, and fourth most downloaded games were TOKYO JUNGLE, Back to the Future: The Game, and Jurassic Park: The Game, respectively. This is mostly due to a massive sale during April and Telltale’s recent successes with The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us.

Braid, Plants vs. Zombies, Tales of Monkey Island, Gotham City Imposters, “Sam and Max”: The Devil’s Playhouse, and Urban Trial Freestyle round out the top ten.

For the PlayStation Vita, the top five games were Retro City Rampage, Muramasa Rebirth, Urban Trial Freestyle, When Vikings Attack! and Dead Nation. The interesting fact here was that only one of the top five is a new game, and it is lower on the list.

On the PlayStation 4, the top game was Trials Fusion. While the second most downloaded game was Octodad: Dadliest Catch, a highly anticipated game. The third on the list was Child of Light, a game that was released at the tail end of the month. inFAMOUS: Second Son was still popular at fourth on the list, while Final Fantasy XIV was fifth. The next five were Trials Fusion Digital Deluxe, Daylight, Strike Suit Zero, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and Outlast.

My Opinion:

This is extremely interesting. Even though there were not that many major releases out in April, the games that were out were interesting choices. Jurassic Park? I know it was on sale, but it was not worth it, in my opinion. Also, Trails was top of the list for the PS4, which did surprise me. I personally thought Octodad was going to be number one for sure, but it wasn’t. It will be interesting to see what May has in store for PlayStation.
