Xbox One System Update Now Available

The newest Xbox One Update is now available!

After being released to Xbox One’s early access program during the first two weeks of May, Microsoft has finally begun releasing it to the public.

The update includes the following:

  • The “Get System Update” button will be greyed-out when no patch is available.  When an update becomes available, the “Get System Update” button will light up and users can then force their Xbox One to install the update immediately.
  • A new “Sound Mixer” for apps with Snap and volume controls when using Kinect with Chat.  The Sound Mixer will allow you to control the volume of the two apps and control which one is louder when using Snap.
  • The ability to opt-in to help improve speech recognition.  If you choose to opt-in, Microsoft will be able to collect your voice data in order to help improve their speech recognition with Kinect.

Features for the next update are expected to be revealed soon.

My Opinion:

This sounds like a solid update.  While it isn’t adding huge features that are game changers, it seems to be adding the little things that the console should have already.  As much as I bash on the Kinect and voice commands, I really like the idea of this new program to help improve their speech recognition.
