Everyone, say it with me: MORTAL KOMBAT!!!! The tenth main game in the series, Mortal Kombat X, has been officially announced after being leaked on Amazon last night.
NetherRealm Studios unveiled MKX in a trailer that isn’t confirmed to be gameplay, but the game is known to be cross-gen. The game will allow for players to change aspects of certain characters to better fit individual styles of play. The story will be original and will follow old favorites like Scorpion and Sub-Zero while introducing new characters as well.
The trailer, which showcases a traditional fight between the main two characters, gives a look as to what features could be in the game. Personal weapons could be returning while environmental weapons seen in NetherRealm’s previous game Injustice: Gods Among Us might come to the fighting series as well. Even the X-ray moves and fatalities get a nod in the trailer.
Mortal Kombat X is set to be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. While a release date is currently unknown, the game will be shown at E3, so stay tuned to learn more info.
MORTAL KOMBAT has been on my mind recently even before this news came up. While I couldn’t really get into the games when they went 3D, it is nice to see it continue to be 2D if what the trailer showcases it true since I love the 2D form they started with. Also, if the trailer is gameplay, HOLY MOTHER OF GOD it looks amazing. I cannot wait until E3 to see what Ed Boon has in store this time.
