Do the terms third-person shooter, customization, and free-to-play excite you? Are you the owner of a PlayStation 4? Are you a fan of the visuals of Team Fortress 2 and/or other whacky titles? If you answered yes to any of that, then the news that the PC shooter Loadout is coming to the PS4 just might interest you.
This news came to us yesterday from the PlayStation Blog. Loadout is going to hit the console market as a PS4 exclusive. On top of that, Loadout is going to stay free-to-play (of course) and will be receiving tweaks and rebalances to better suit the DualShock 4 controller.
The main draw of developer Edge of Reality’s most recent foray into video games is the sweeping customization to your weapons and character. In the words of Mark Nau (Director at Edge of Reality) “Loadout has literally billions of different weapon combinations…” As you progress through Loadout you receive new bits and pieces to make your tools of extreme violence more threatening and unique.
Last but certainly not least, Loadout is also known for its hilarious take on gore. Quoting Nau again, “When you shoot someone in Loadout, you know it and they know it: limbs and heads sever, gaping holes display the delightfully shiny organs within, and flesh burns to a well-done crisp.” I couldn’t possibly have put it better myself.
Loadout’s PS4 release date has not yet been announced, but hopefully there will be more information on the game’s PC to PS4 jump soon.
My Opinion:
Great news. I am a definite sucker for customization, insane weaponry, and fun-filled bloody death matches. It looks like Loadout is set to bring all of that and more to my personal PS4, which is sadly lacking in games to play at the moment. The whole free bit is also a very big plus in my book. I’ve watched gameplay of Loadout over on Achievement Hunters’ LetsPlay YouTube channel and I’ve been tempted to play the game for a while now. The only wall I’ve found is that I’ve been too lazy to download it for my PC. Now I’ve got no reason not to jump in and make all of the nefarious weapons of mass destruction that Lex Luthor couldn’t even dream of.
