Microsoft Deny Xbox One Development Kit Rumours

Microsoft has denied rumours stating that retail Xbox One’s will not be able to be used as development kits.

This comes from several reports claiming that Microsoft was planning to drop the policy. In response to this, Game Informer reached out to Microsoft and was told: “The comments today were inaccurate, “ The Microsoft spokesperson stated “we remain committed to ensuring the best possible solutions for developers and hobbyists to create games for Xbox One. We will share more details at a later date.”

However, Microsoft has not clarified on whether indie developers will be able to use a retail Xbox One as a development kit or if they will have to buy a development kit separately.

My Opinion:

I guess it’s good that they are denying these rumours, although, I would prefer for them to outright say that a retail Xbox One could became a development kit. We will just have to wait and see but hopefully Microsoft don’t drop the ball on this policy, as it was a good policy for indie developers.
