New details about the next installment in the Mass Effect franchise emerged today from BioWare at SDCC. Revealed during the “Charting a Course: Developing the Next Mass Effect” panel, BioWare showed what players can expect to be included within the next Mass Effect.
As reported live by Twitter user Nerd Appropriate, BioWare’s developers went into a great number of details about the next Mass Effect game. Several tidbits that have been previously announced, such as featuring a new protagonist and use of the Frostbite 3 engine, were once again stressed to the audience. However, the team also teased that there will be “some old included with the new” and that familiar characters might make an appearance.
Also during the panel, the team revealed some non-final renders of the new N7 armor on both male and female player models, indicating that once again players will be able to have a choice in gender. The panel went on to explain that gender choice is an important aspect of the Mass Effect franchise.

Finally, it was also announced that the Mako will make a reappearance in the next game and will be completely redesigned. The developers explained that they have learned from previous vehicles in the franchise and these lessons have shaped how the redesigned Mako will function.

My Opinion:
While much of the details released are not too shocking, I am pleased that BioWare has finally started to reveal more about this game. Having heard so little about the next installment so far, it has made me curious in what they could possibly have in store for us. Hopefully BioWare has learned from their previous mistakes and with this game, make us all fall in love with the franchise again.
