Originally scheduled for release on July 29th, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds will now arrive in North America on August 12th for the PS Vita. This is the second time the game has been delayed.
The first delay pushed the release back to August 5th. Now from developer’s 5pd.’s Facebook page and press release comes the news of the second delay. Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds is a side-scrolling beat-em-up game, spun off from the 2D fighter Phantom Breaker. It features a total of four playable characters, with a fifth available via DLC. There are four modes of play to choose from: Story, Arcade, Co-op, and Battleground.
When the game does finally release it will cost $12, for an additional $6 gamers can purchase The Makise Kurisu DLC. For a look at the game on the PS Vita watch the trailer below, just be sure to ignore the release date at the end.
My Opinion: This is a case of no such thing as bad publicity. The game wasn’t even on my radar until I read the news of its delay. Now I am aware of Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds and have heard good things from reviews of the game. It reminds me of games I enjoyed playing growing up like Streets of Rage and Double Dragon. Plus it was delayed only a couple weeks, so fans anticipating the release don’t have to wait too much longer.

Ok forget about my comment before but I think it should be noted that in European territories the game has been released. People in need of an old-school side scrolling beat em up, you’ll enjoy this game.
