Today, Game Informer revealed its September cover issue announcing Assassin’s Creed Rogue. Unlike Assassin’s Creed Unity, which will be releasing on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Rogue will release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall and will feature a different protagonist, story and setting to explore.
In Assassin’s Creed Rogue you play as Shay Patrick Cormac, an Assassin turned Templar who is now hunting down the assassins who have betrayed him. The game will take place in the North Atlantic with New York City looking to be the main hub of the world. Fans of Black Flag should be right at home in Rogue because the familiar naval gameplay returns as you explore the cold waters of the North Atlantic along with the Appalachian River Valley.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue will launch on November 11th, two weeks after Assassin’s Creed Unity releases on October 28th. As of right now, a connection between the two games has only been hinted at by Game Informer.
My Opinion:
Assassin’s Creed has been one of my favorite series for a long time, and while some are worried about over saturation of the series, I can’t wait to dig into these two very different adventures. Rogue seems to be for fans of Black Flag while Unity looks to take the series into the future. I can’t wait to try them both.
Shaun Fales is an associate writer for MONG and has an Assassin’s Creed tattoo, so of course he is excited for this news. You can follow him on IGN, Twitch, and Twitter.
