Youkai Watch Coming West in 2015

It appears that the popular 3DS game Youkai Watch will be coming west next year!

Akihiro Hino, president and CEO of Level 5, confirmed during a conversation with Japanese news website Zakzak that they have plans to expand the title into the west in 2015.

We’re aiming for global expansion next year, I think it has appeal as a Japanese-ish fantasy. We’ve already obtained approval from an overseas toy maker, saying it will absolutely be a success.

Youkai Watch sold over 1.2 million copies since its release as a Japan-only exclusive in July 2013.  The game has also become so popular that there have been several toys, manga, and anime based on it.

My Opinion:

I figured it was just a matter of time before this made its way west.  It seems like a game that would catch on with the western audience (examples: Pokémon and Ni No Kuni).  I am a big fan of Level 5’s work, so I will definitely be checking this game out when it makes it way here.
