With the anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn quickly approaching, in celebration, Square Enix will be hosting a 14-hour live stream of the game.
The stream can be watched starting on Friday, August 22 at 8:00pm PDT, and will last until Saturday, August 23 10:00am PDT (YouTube, Twitch, Niconico Live).
For the full list of events, including a new Live Producer’s Letter, the schedule can be seen here.
My Opinion:
As far as I’m aware, this 14-hour stream may be a first in the world of MMOs as far as developer interaction goes. Square Enix has been trailblazing the way in which MMO developers foster the relationship with their game’s community through Live Letters and events such as this 14-hour stream. It’s even gone so far as to make Yoshi-P, leader director, into a huge celebrity on the official forums. I’m glad that Square is being so innovative with their community outreach, and I’m even happier that so many other MMO developers are following suit.
