Don’t Starve Cooks Up Vita Release Date

Good news for Vita owners hungry for more games on the system.  Klei Entertainment has announced Don’t Starve: Giant Edition is headed to the handheld via the PlayStation Blog.

The game will be available on September 2nd for $14.99.  Don’t Starve: Giant Edition includes the “Reign of Giants” expansion which offers new characters and challenges.  Originally released on Valve’s Steam in 2013, Don’t Starve is an action adventure game with a heavy emphasis on survival.  Players control a scientist named Winston with the goal of surviving as long as possible while facing numerous obstacles.

Due to technical issues, cross-play with not be offered with the PS4 version of the game.  However, cross-buy will be in effect as owning the game on the PS4 gives you the Vita version for free and vice versa.

My Opinion:

This is yet another port headed to PlayStation Vita, but in this instance I don’t mind. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Don’t Starve and it seems perfectly suited for the handheld.  I don’t own a PS4 currently but, with cross-buy included , I could see myself playing it mostly on the Vita.  The system has become a great portal to indie games for a non-PC gamer, such as myself.
